ACUA is a Not-for-Profit organisation which intends to further the preservation of the culture, language, custom and traditions within the compliance and regulations of the Australian Laws of the Land.

ACUA strengthens the cultural identity, relationships and social prosperity of her members, families and youths living in Australia.

ACUA provides advice and guidance to her Australian members and families, as well as advocating for community development, education, and health solutions that contribute to the quality of life and improved social and economic outcomes for our members and wide Australian communities. 

ACUA believes in the power of community-based initiatives and projects. Our members strongly believe that ACUA community members can spark and accelerate positive change. ACUA members are passionate about empowering and inspiring their community members to create impactful and thriving communities of Abiong, Adiang, Ayoliel, Kuach and Nyapiny in Australia and globally.

ACUA believes that a positive mindset leads to better relationships, resilience, and happiness. ACUA members bring enthusiasm and pride to everything they do, inspire each other, and thrive on tackling challenges together.

ACUA embodies diversity of ideas and opinions, but we embrace unity of purpose and sense of belonging as paramount to our co-existence. Unity of purpose is in our DNA and is fundamental to our success within and outside the community.

Facilitating training programs, educational opportunities, and scholarships to empower members with the skills and knowledge.

Offering support with hospital fees, medical treatment, and food vouchers for vulnerable individuals in need of essential resources.

State and Global Advocacy

Engaging in advocacy efforts at local, national, and international levels to protect and promote the best interests of our members.

ACUA Background

Background of Ajuong Community Union Australia (ACUA) Ltd

Ajuong Community Union Australia (ACUA) Ltd was founded in April 2004 with a mission to unite and empower the Ajuong community in Australia. It was envisioned by two key members, Ayiik Chol Deng and the late Dau Dhieu Dau, in Melbourne, Victoria. This initiative was supported and guided by senior members of the community.

Visionaries Behind ACUA

The Idea's Inception

The first consultation meeting endorsed the idea and assigned the late Dau Dhieu Dau, Ayiik Chol Deng, Manyok Bul Koch and Mading Deng Thuch to disseminate the information to all ACUA members in Australian States and Territories.

The second consultation meeting led to formation of interim leadership committee as follows:

  • Edward Mangar Ayuel Malual – Interim Executive President 
  • Deng Amol Dau – Interim Secretary General 
  • Mading Deng Thuch – Interim Treasurer

The first consultation was held at the residence of the late Dau Dhieu Dau, attended by several committed individuals.

The First Leadership

Elected Leadership Team in December 2004

In December 2004, a general assembly elected ACUA’s first official leadership to draft its constitution and incorporate the association in Queensland, Australia. The first leadership included

  • Edward Mangar Ayuel Malual – Executive President
  • Juach Lueth Juach – Deputy Executive President
  • Deng Amol Dau – Secretary General
  • Mawut Mabior Chol – Treasurer
  • Angok Apech Erjok – Women Leader & Representative

The constitution was later drafted by senior lawyer and member of ACUA, Ayuel Bul Koch.

Purpose of ACUA

The main purpose of ACUA was to maintain unity and social solidarity among members. And to be the central forum where ACUA members initiate and discuss developmental and cultural projects, among many other initiatives for the benefits of the community.
